The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads has released their latest Disability Action Plan entitled Improving Access to 2017. It replaces the older Disability Action Plan—Achieving Accessible Public Transport in Queensland 2007.

The Disability Action Plan—Improving Access to 2017 (Disability Action Plan) is now available. It replaces the Disability Action Plan—Achieving Accessible Public Transport in Queensland 2007.
The Disability Action Plan outlines how we can improve accessibility for people with disabilities using our passenger transport system.
It takes a customer centred approach, and focuses on four priorities supported by 28 actions. The 4 priorities are:
- Building an accessible transport network
- enhancing the customer experience
- improving the accessibility of information
- working in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.
The plan was developed following consultation with transport operators, disability and non-government sector representative groups, the Local Government Association of Queensland, the Queensland Disability Advisory Council, and members of the public through the completion of a survey on the government’s Get Involved website.
A review of the Disability Action Plan will be undertaken midway through its implementation with a final review planned in 2017.
