NDIS Sessions – Getting Informed and Sharing Practical Strategies

Image of CRU logoThe Community Resource Unit (aka CRU) is running some more NDIS Participant Readiness events throughout November and December.

They’ll be held at Sunnybank, Springfield Lakes, Kenmore Hills, and Fortitude Valley.

There’s two sessions at each location, The NDIS – Getting Informed in the morning and The NDIS – Sharing Practical Strategies in the afternoon.

Here’s what CRU had to say in their email:

We have opened registrations for some more NDIS Participant Readiness events in  Kenmore Hills and Fortitude Valley for people with disability, their families, friends and allies. Please pass this information on to people you know, or work with, who would benefit.

This is also a reminder that registrations for Sunnybank and Springfield Lakes are closing this Thursday so be sure to register your interest now. The Springfield Lakes session will be the final session to be offered in the Ipswich region for 2016.  Please note, from January 2017, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will take over providing information and sessions in preparation for the NDIS commencement mid-year.

Our Getting Informed sessions are for people who are keen to learn more about the details of the NDIS . We will be offering a guided conversation after the morning workshop that provides an opportunity to better connect with other people who are also preparing for the NDIS. We are calling these sessions The NDIS – Sharing Practical Strategies, as we encourage people with disability and family members to not only learn about the NDIS, but to look for opportunities to share your own knowledge, wisdom and ideas with others.

At these sessions, we will share CRU’s resources, ideas and strategies while enabling participants to connect and share with each other, and draw from the experience of all attendees. Participants always say they learn a lot from talking to and connecting with other people and families who are also preparing for the NDIS. We hope this will give people not only more confidence in preparing for the NDIS, but also the confidence to share with, inform and resource others in their community.

We have listed the various NDIS-Readiness sessions below, you can follow the links or phone us at CRU on (07) 3844 2211 for any assistance in registering for an event.

People with disability and their families can register for either the workshop or the conversation, or both. There is no cost to attend these sessions.
