Queensland Support Services & Solutions (QSSS) was developed in July 2009 and launched in January 2010 to provide:
- In-home quality support services to people with physical disabilities throughout South-East Qld; and
- Consultancy services, training, auditing and brokerage to community and service providers and other organisations/agencies.
The Managing Director Louise Lowe has over 35 years experience working in disability, community services within the non-profit and private sectors. Louise has her own personal experience with disability having used a wheelchair for over 50 years.
QSSS applies an affirmative action culture and practice to the organisation, where employment is provided or facilitated for people who have the personal experience of disability. We are also committed to promoting self-determination of people who have a disability, where people have choices and as much control of their service delivery as they wish to have. Our services are transparent, flexible and negotiable.
Our Mission Statement
To be responsive to service needs that promote independence and social wellbeing for individuals with physical disabilities of all ages.
We aim to remain innovative, informed and proactive in identifying the needs of our target group and to do ‘whatever it takes’ to meet those needs.
Queensland Support Services & Solutions holds the following values:
- Valuing people and upholding person-centred approaches;
- Promoting personal responsibility and self-determination;
- Building organisational capacity; and
- Working hard to create a culture across the board where quality services exist for people who require support.
QSSS works as a “virtual office” with all administrative staff working from home at locations from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast. For more information on the QSSS team check out our staff profiles page or to get in touch, check out the contact page.
QSSS’s target group is people with physical disabilities who are self-determining. Most of our Clients are wheelchair users (whether through accident or congenital or other health/acquired reasons), and who live alone or with partners or parents/carers. In order to receive services from QSSS, Clients must have a funding package from either Disability Services, DVA or be privately funded and Clients must be able to use a computer and email in order to communicate and share information between us.
People may self-refer by phoning or emailing us in the first instance to ascertain if we are the best Service Provider (the best fit) for them, what service models we can offer etc. and subject to that conversation, a visitation/assessment by QSSS to your home may occur.
QSSS will provide prospective Clients with a quotation of how many hours of support we can offer and what our fees and charges are; if the Client chooses QSSS and is accepted as a Client by us, we will provide a starting date, assist with any recruitment required and discuss the model of service we will provide.
QSSS is a highly transparent and accountable Service Provider; we provide Clients with a Budget for their supports which is our working budget and a Profit and Loss Statement is provided at least bi-monthly (or more if requested).
All enquiries are most welcome!
Surprisingly the transition [to QSSS] was not only straight forward but life changing […] l would highly recommend QSSS to any potential clients or staff — (male client with quadriplegia).
